SBP is the national coordination platform for human and non-human biobanks. It aims to respond to the increasing requests from biomedical researchers regarding quality and the interconnectedness of biobanks for research purposes.
In line with its mission, Swiss Biobanking Plateform is pleased to announce the launch of a knowledge database on the regulation of biobanks in Europe, covering European law and the legislation of 7 countries, including Switzerland.
SWISS NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION HAS JUST LAUNCHED ITS SECOND BIOLINK CALL!
BioLink is intended for investigators who wish to network their biobanks using IT systems. This harmonisation of the IT systems will result in the sharing of data so as to address well-defined, scientific questions.
Swiss Biobanking Platform participates as the Swiss delegated body for the International Standard for biobanking (ISO 20387 – Biotechnology – Biobanking - General requirements for biobanking). Following the comment phase of July 2017, the standard proceeds now to the final step: the balloting process phase.
An important aim of Swiss Biobanking Platform is to promote exchange and use of biological samples. The SBP Working Group Microbiology proposes – as a first step – a dataset for bacteria, recommended to be used by all biobanks.
These two documents are essential for all biobanks. In its mission to help biobanks compiling with applicable standards, SBP will soon provide templates to support each biobank building up a strong gouvernance.
