Swiss Biobanking Day

The Swiss Biobanking Day is the first national conference dedicated to biobanking in Switzerland, co-organised by Swiss Biobanking and the Liquid Biobank Bern. Taking place on 30 November 2026 in Bern, the event marks the 10th anniversary of both institutions.
Bringing together researchers, clinicians and biobanking professionals from Switzerland and beyond, the Swiss Biobanking Day offers a full day of keynote presentations, thematic sessions, poster presentations and networking — as well as a guided visit of the Liquid Biobank Bern facilities.

Europe Biobank Week 2027

May 18–21, 2027 · Lausanne, Switzerland

Europe Biobank Week (EBW) is the leading European congress dedicated to biobanking. Co-organised by BBMRI-ERIC and the European, Middle Eastern & African Society for Biopreservation and Biobanking (ESBB), this annual event has brought together since 2016 researchers, clinicians, biobank professionals, industry partners and patient representatives to discuss the latest scientific advances, innovations and ethical, legal and societal issues related to biobanking and personalised medicine.

The 2027 edition will take place at the SwissTech Convention Center, located on the EPFL campus in Lausanne.

Programme

The congress spans four days, with activities both on and off the EPFL campus:

  • Day 1 — On-site visits to biobanks within the Swiss Biobanking network and selected EPFL facilities
  • Day 2 — Official opening and start of scientific sessions, followed by a welcome reception at the Rolex Learning Center on the EPFL campus
  • Day 3 — Scientific programme, networking and gala dinner at the Olympic Museum, overlooking Lake Geneva
  • Day 4 — Scientific programme and a dedicated public engagement event around the EPFL campus, open to the local community, patients and students
