Combining the features of a directory (searching at the biobank level) with those of a catalogue (searching at the sample level), NExT helps biobanks showcase their collections and enables researchers to discover samples efficiently, fostering meaningful collaboration and accelerating scientific discoveries.

Manage the exchange platform by uploading your sample data, choosing their visibility level among the research community (public or restricted access) and sharing your access policies.

NExT for Researchers
Access the exploration tool to find biobanks which host the samples you need to perform your project. Interconnect and exchange with the biobanks through the innovative communication platform.

How to appear in the NExT

3 simple steps to share your samples:

  1. As soon as your biobank has obtained at least one SBP Label it becomes visible at national level on the Sample Catalog (NExT).
  2. Register and we will grant you access to the administration console of your biobank
  3. Upload your sample data and decide to whom you make them visible

FAQ

NExT is a searchable e-catalogue, accessible online after registration. It provides a clear and reliable way to make samples findable, search for samples of interest, and contact the biobank to request access. The platform fosters research by supporting sample selection based on multiple criteria (e.g., disease, sex, age) and streamlines inquiry management and document sharing (e.g., MTA) through an intuitive interface.

NExT is an e-catalogue where biobanks interested in sharing samples can make them visible to the research community. If your samples are shareable (i.e., consent allows it), NExT provides a direct channel to connect with researchers and develop new projects.

If you are a researcher, you can join NExT to quickly search for the samples you need and connect directly with the biobank that provides them.

Once your user account has been validated by our team, you will be assigned one of two roles:

  • “Biobank Member” if you hold at least the VITA Label and wish to share samples with the research community.
  • “Requester” if you are seeking access to specific samples of interest.
