Quality Handbook for Biobanks

European partners developed and published a harmonised “Quality Handbook for Biobanks”

Swiss Biobanking, the German Biobank Network (GBN), BBMRI.pl and BBMRI.be have jointly published the Quality Handbook for Biobanks (QHB), a harmonised guidance document designed to support biobanks in establishing and improving their quality management systems.

The handbook was developed by the quality management officers Joséphine Uldry (Switzerland), Nhu Tuyen Phan (Germany), Dr. Agnieszka Matera-Witkiewicz (Poland), and Mieke De Wilde (Belgium). It was endorsed by the national nodes of the European biobank network BBMRI-ERIC and published in March 2026 as an open-access publication.
